There are quite a few individuals on this intarweb that are of the opinion that my employer is much worse than it is. In fact, several people who I know and trust have cautioned me about it. I'm a typically paranoid guy so I of course had backup plans, but I'm proud to announce that i've rationalized my fears and done quite a bit of observation. All that I've found are quality, hard working people. Accountable people who care about the end result. It's an infectious environment that I'm proud to be a part of... though it's sometimes a bit on the cheesy side.
It's young. It's new. It's in a state of rapid change. Political structures are taking root, hierarchy is being formed from a growing pool of talent, and we're riding the ever-present wave of technological advances.
And all them other haters are bitches. It's business, get over it.

I was also a bit cautious when I joined that company. I'm sure their growing pains had something to do with their reputation. And it does get rather cheesy for my taste at times. But it is hands down the best place I have ever worked. The place will surely change as it grows, but right now I am a happy, happy man.

I would be willing to tolerate the cheese factor if it meant i could quit being the Applications Administrator of the worst web app EVER (tm). Wayne is your old and crotchety grandfather who refuses to drive on the freeway because "those crazy drivers drive too fast.... OUCH my hip!!". It never gets cheesy, unless it's the stale and moldy kind. Political structures have taken root, and people who do not produce don't get fired, they get promoted!
Furthermore, you'd think an old geezer like WSU would have the wisdom factor. But, you'd be wrong. The only thing that is good is free school, lots of vacation and sick time, decent benefits, and a union to protect my free speech rights -- so I don't get fired for bitching online about my job :)
