[General] WOOHOO!@#$ (semester's over) by Michael @ 05/02/06 09:41:55 AM

I'm half tempted to backspace over that !@#$.. not trusting my programming skillz.. it'll probably be just fine, i've made sure everything is checked and rechecked.. and i don't think bN will have a problem with the ol bang at hash dollar ..  But yes.. on to the important stuff.. no more school til after the wedding!!

This is big for me mostly because that means i have like 7 months.. of "time".  That's a lot of "time".  I have like 7 years worth of projects to do but i couldn't be more excited to get started.

I expect a B (or worse) in both my classes this semester.. It's a bum deal because its going to bring down my GPA.. but I'm so happy to be done..  This was my first whole year straight through w/o any breaks and it was fricking difficult.

In other news, I want a t-shirt with a big picture of Stephen Colbert's head on it.. and i want it to read "STEPHEN FUCKING COLBERT!!!!!!"  and i want to wear it proudly wherever I go.  I can see why the press think the daily show's staff is a formidable force... they're telling people the "truth" ;)..  and the smart ones are listening .. and the dumb ones are listening to the smart ones.  and you know how viral that can be.  anyway.. good show this weekend, colbert.. and if you haven't seen it, check out the clips over at youtube.

So is everything back to normal after yesterday's walk out?  I didn't notice anything here in Detroit.  It either must suck that bad or we just must be good ol fashioned americans up here.  The couple thousand immigrants that are here (that want to stay here) are probably overwhelmed by the productive force that the wonderful city of Detroit represents.  They were probably compelled to work in this area, just as many legal citizens were compelled to take the day off in support of the immigrants.  We'll be talking about this one for a while.  It's just a messy situation for everything.  I feel like the corporations are being the equvilent to a date rapist like "look how she's dressed, she was just ASKING for it!".  Cheap labor is enticing, but at what cost?  This lack of corporate discipline is in my opinion what is to blame here.  Fake papers / fake credentials and you're in.  But wait.. you're still only paid a fraction of what you should be?  how's that work?  They know what's going on.  Government can't tighten down the borders as much as we need to in order to prevent this problem from happening.  We must look for the ethical people inside ourselves.  If it truly is illegal, than don't hire them!  If you don't treat it as a resource, then it isn't.  Yadda yadda ya.  If they become legal immigrants (and others do this all the time so why can't they), then ok fine.. hire the hell out of them.  I think the corporations / companies / employers are the problem and I think they should be bearing all the blame.  Not the immigrants..  They're just going where the money is, and if they can get away with not becoming full citizens then why should they?

But of course.. corporations can't be held accountable in this fair country.. ok.. rant off.
