[Work] Working with your fiance by Michael @ 02/09/06 11:21:19 AM

Sometimes I feel like I have to wear kid gloves more than I should.  I feel like I can't have an opposing opinion because really what man CAN when it comes to their significant other.  Everything in a relationship is compromise, but everything in business doesn't have to be.  The problem is I now have to call a coworker and smooth things out with them simply because I know that when I get home she will be mad at me for a decision I made at work.. or for a position I held.

These things should not be tied together.  It doesn't help that we both work in a place that isn't very respectful of personal boundaries anyway.  They allowed for us to both work here in on the same projects.  They allowed it to happen and continue to make it difficult for us to enjoy a better home life.  They question when we take vacation at similar times, and sometimes use one of us to get to the other one of us.  It's not fair.  It's confusing.

many places would even with hold advancement from one / both of you in the event one's relative tragically passed away you would both have to leave, or some other similar event. after boning a co-worker a year ago i have decided to never fish off the company pier again. i know it is a different situation for you both, but i really have no idea what else to say other than good luck.

The clue factor among the people in power here is pretty non existant. also.. there's not really advancement either. believe it or not, it's kind of like a dead end job. kriss and I seem to stick it out pretty well.. whats important to know is that she's my gf/fiance/wife first, and my co-worker second. thats how I prioritize.. I can "play business" but it doesn't always work inside.. as much as I can effectively project how i SHOULD be feeling, i'm not always feeling that way.
